This antique pair of Italian rococo Louis XV style carved giltwood four-lights scrolled sconces are intricately hand carved and pierced with a wonderful scroll design and foliate motif throughout. Dating back to 19th century Rococo Revival period these two giltwood wall light sconces are a wonderful example of Tuscan craftsmanship in the art of wood carving and gilding and wrought iron in rocaille style.
Handmade and crafted in Florence – and acquired from a Florentine mansion- the sconces are gilded with gold leaves, featuring rich foliate carvings and wrought iron scrolled arms supporting four round ocher lacquer and gilded drip pan bobeches and their candle sleeves.
Boasting a lovely patina, fourfold sconce for a bright and luxurious feel, this pair of Florentine Rococo style sconces will bring an undeniable touch of refinement to any living room, hallway or bedroom, perhaps hung above a pair of demi-lunes consoles or commodes.
Very good overall condition. Lovely original patina, warm gold color and great scale. Lovely tiny vintage silk lampshades profiled by golden cord included. They are newly wired but it is advisable to change the bulb sockets.
