This wonderful half moon shaped little sideboard or chest of drawers dates back to Louis XVI (1774 -1791) period and it is stamped by the French cabinet maker Tondeur.
It’ s a one of a kind magnificently inlaid commode made of precious fruitwood and essences, mother of pearl and bone.
The front housing two drawers and two side cabinets with one shelf each is inalid with unusual patterns, music’s allegories and animals. This cabinet is centered by beautiful inlay and marquetry artfully laid panel depicting a monkey that picks up the fruits of the cocoa and a dog made of bones, both symbols of good luck and fortune. Throughout all sides the scene is enriched with a fine inlay depicting the allegory of music.
The casework inside is made of precious citronnier wood framed by an ebony band.
This is a wonderful example of 18th century French craftsmanship, raised on square tapering legs, typical of that period with a very elegant structure. Luxuriously veined Italian Broccatello marble top featuring a beautiful grain and gorgeous soft colors.
This little cabinet of narrow proportion is stamped by Tondeur, the French Master cabinet maker, this means that it is one of a kind, exclusive work of art.
